Purpose: Banasura Sagar Dam primarily serves the purpose of irrigation and drinking water supply. It is also a part of the Banasurasagar Project, which aims at providing water for agricultural purposes.
Reservoir: The dam forms a reservoir called Banasura Sagar Reservoir, which, in addition to its utilitarian functions, has become a popular tourist attraction. The reservoir offers opportunities for boating, and visitors can enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding hills.
Islands: The reservoir created by the dam has a set of islands that emerged during the submersion of the area. One of the islands is known for having a small park with walkways.
